Who We Are & What We Are Doing

Welcome to Our Site -
As one of the active partners in 4EverMissingU & an Australian who now resides in Panama Latin America i have seen many
sides to this ever amazing & sometimes shocking world.
In Panama if you do not work you do not eat, it is that simple. There is NO welfare, NO free medical,NO handouts from the
Government. You do what you can to survive. The luckier people enjoy a 40 hour working week but most work anywhere
from 44 - 60 hours a week for an average wage of $250-$400 a month. Yes - less than what most people earn in a week.
With no education you are limited to employment prospects & will earn under $200 a month. There is so much i can tell you
about this beautiful country but for this issue i will stick to the topic that I am very passionate about.
The Children. The Poverty. Children begging at traffic lights in dirty, raggedy clothes just for 25c for something to eat.
In todays world there should NOT be one hungry child. But there is- millions of them. NO food, NO shelter, NO medical
assistance, NO fresh water,NO electricity,NO education, little clothing. No way ever to break out of the cycle.
The worst of it - NO Hope in their eyes. Innocence lost. It is heartbreaking.
Since coming to Panama my partner & I decided to do something about this issue. However small our contributions may be.
We are not rich & we live on one wage here. We budget & we get by. We have been doing this now for 5 years.
Twice a year we put together what we call care packages that consist of food like rice, pasta, oil, tuna, powdered drinks,
powdered milk, sugar, salt, fresh vegetables, toothpaste & toothbrushes & basic medical supplies like,Panandol,band-aids,
cough mixture, soothing ointment for heat rash, antiseptic & various other smaller items as well as fresh bottled water &
some clothing & candies for the children. We spend over $1000 at a time doing this but we have had to reduce that amount
this year due to rising prices in fuel & food. That amount makes around 30 care parcels. Enough to feed each family for
about 2 weeks or $34.00 per parcel. It just isn't enough. They need things like piped fresh water, shelter, access to medical
care, education, work. These packs are band-aids for a long term problem. So we decided that we will assist family after
family & smaller communities to become self sufficient. They just need a kick start. Last Christmas we visited a river district
about 1 hour from the City and found several families who without our donations of care parcels would have gone hungry
on Christmas day. They wanted to share the food with us. We left them with whatever money we had on us & continued on
our journey. Carrying emotions of anger & tears for their plight. I wonder what the President of Panama ate that day ?
Yes you could ask why doesn't their Government do something - I agree - but the very stark truth is they don't & won't !
The rich get richer & the poor suffer. The reason we do not donate to other charities or churches is that we want to see
where our money is going. We want it to go DIRECTLY to those who NEED it. Immediately not stored away or used to build
other churches. We deliver these packages all over Panama & we know that our hard earned money is going where it
should go & that people are benefiting from it NOW & receiving the donated goods as intended. You will begin to see in here
receipts from good purchased & we will itemise for everyone what we spend the money on. We will also begin taking
photos of the areas that we travel to in order to dispense the greatly needed assistance that your money has provided.
So i would like to say thank YOU in advance & be rest assured that your hard earned money is going where it should go -
direct to the people who need it most. Please see each Countries page for our fund raising thermometer to show what we
are raising money for, how much is needed & by when.
Welcome to 4EverMissingU.
I hope this site brings you both comfort & peace of mind.
As the other active Partner in this site i would like to explain what we do here in Australia.
A few years ago my partner lost a son to Spina Bifida and just recently the birth of our baby became a very anxious time for
us. After a gauntlet of tests & scans and insurmountable levels of stress & anxiety our little baby was born premature but
we had a beautiful and oh so tiny Healthy Girl. She spent time in the SCUBU Unit at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital in
Adelaide. When she came home we had to tube feed her around the clock. Due to her premature birth she also suffered
hearing loss. We’re still waiting to see that everything else is ok.
The Special Baby Unit & the staff were amazing. They d our baby’s life for which we’ll always be very grateful.
During our many hours of visiting times there, we observed the chronic overcrowding within that Unit.
In their infinite wisdom our State Government is closing down the other major Maternity Hospitals & instead building a new
entertainment centre.
There just is not enough room for the staff or the patients & more importantly – the equipment needed to assist these
beautiful little babies to survive. But I am sure there is adequate room in the New Entertainment Centre.
It’s heart breaking to see these helpless little babies covered in tubes, under UV lights with blinkers on their eyes.
They spend hours in the special incubators without human touch, each visitor carefully screened, having to go through
rigorous hygiene restrictions before they can even see their baby, let alone touch them. What’s worse there’s nowhere to
stay with the overcrowding. Knowing that you have to go home while your baby is still in the hospital is the hardest thing
any parent faces. I know from personal experience.
The Neonatal care given to those little babies needs so much more support.
We supposedly live in one of the world’s luckiest countries, we have great resources etc but it’s still not enough. Especially
when your own Government deems it better to close a hospital instead of granting a well deserved pay rise to the staff.
Instead of assisting the Hospitals to expand & or remodel the Units & contribute new equipment to much needed facilities.
Why does it always come down to the People having to fund these much needed facilities ?
What are our Tax's being spent on? Oh Yes a new Entertainment Centre.
We personally can’t afford to buy these machines outright but with a percentage of all memberships & donations from you
we can achieve our goals & see our dreams come true & begin to purchase some much needed equipment for those
Hospitals & especially The Women's & Children's Hospital in Adelaide - SCUBU Unit & those beautiful little babies fighting
so hard to survive. We may with adequate donations also contribute in the expansion of SCUBU Unit itself.
Please help US to help Our Future Generations, make a donation, purchase a memorial
& together we can achieve these goals.
Kind Regards
The Partners at 4EverMissingU
